Healthy Eating

Welcome to Virginia Early Learning Academies!

We are excited to have your family join our community. In addition to providing safe, reliable, and loving care for your little ones, we are committed to serving nourishing meals that your child will enjoy.

As a registered dietitian nutritionist and parent, I have seen firsthand the difference that parents and caregivers can make in establishing lifelong healthy habits with children. For over a decade, I have helped parents and caregivers learn how to approach the tough topic of food and nutrition with their children. Many parents find mealtimes with their children challenging, stressful, and overwhelming. I believe that with a laidback, positive approach toward food we can make mealtimes an enjoyable experience for everyone!

One of best parts of my job is seeing children gathered around the table learning to serve themselves and their excitement to discuss and explore the different foods on their plates.

Virginia Early Learning Academies takes your child’s nutrition very seriously. Across our network of childcare centers, we pledge to:

  • Serve nutritious meals and snacks that meet each child’s nutritional needs for proper growth and development.
  • Promote a positive mealtime environment where teachers model healthy eating behaviors, discuss and explore food with a positive and enthusiastic approach, and teach age-appropriate mealtime manners and skills.
  • Combat food insecurity and hunger across the community.
  • Inspire children, families, and staff to learn more about food, nutrition, and developing lifelong eating habits.
